Speed

Very nice job by the dev team last night. We made a big db change that has really sped up the sites. Quite snappy.

Speed is such a critical issue for web software. Even if you are providing a great service, no one wants to wait around for it to arrive. The need for speed also extends beyond the responsiveness of the UI.

A hot story on Digg takes hours to make it's way from submit to most users. When Yahoo shows that a topic is buzzing a large group of users have to already know about it. LOUD3R's goal is to understand buzz when the event happens. By making the author a part of the scoop we surface great FRESH news minutes or hours sooner.
